In such circumstances, urban life needs some characteristics and requirements. One of the most important requirements is awareness and knowledge of citizens about responsibilities of citizenship which show the importance of "Citizenship Education". The research method of the study is survey. The sample size included 437 people who were selected via Stratified Sampling Method. The results of study indicate that the citizen's awareness in dimensions of social, cultural, economic and political responsibilities is average. In social dimension respondents show the highest level of knowledge. The knowledge of people in economic dimension was significantly different in terms of gender. Component assessment of each dimension, suggests that in the Social dimension, the most awareness is about (necessity of help to promote healthy, dynamic and happy city). In cultural aspect (the necessity of respecting the ethnic groups), in economic aspect (the necessity of urban duties) and in political aspect (the ways of choosing municipal authorities) had the highest degree. Background variables are significantly related to the dimensions of the awareness about the responsibilities and awareness is low among youth and significantly different from parents ' awareness.     گسترش چشمگیر سکونت در کلان‌شهرها در سال‌های اخیر، مسائل و مشکلات خاصی را در زندگی شهری به‌وجود آورده‌است. زندگی شهری الزامات و ویژگی‌های مختلفی دارد که یکی از مهم‌ترین آنها توجه به سطح دانش و آگاهی مردم دربارة مسئولیت‌های شهروندی‌شان در شهرهاست که در ادبیات امروزی آن را آموزش شهروندی می‌گویند. روش تحقیق حاضر پیمایش است. جمعیت تحقیق را کلیة شهروندان شهر ساری با ضابطة سنی 18 سال و بالاتر تشکیل داده‌اند که از میان آنها 437 نفر، با استفاده از روش نمونه‌گیری طبقه‌ای و تصادفی، به‌منزلة جمعیت نمونه، انتخاب شدند. نتایج تحقیق نشان می‌دهد میزان آگاهی شهروندان از ابعاد اجتماعی، فرهنگی، اقتصادی و سیاسی مسئولیت‌ها در سطح متوسط است. بیشترین آگاهی به بعد اجتماعی مربوط است و فقط تفاوت جنسیتی در بعد اقتصاد شهر معنادار است؛ به‌عبارت روشن‌تر، آگاهی زنان بیشتر از مردان است. ارزیابی مؤلفه‌های ابعاد حاکی از آن است که بیشترین میزان آگاهی، در بعد اجتماعی، مربوط به لزوم کمک به پیش‌برد اهداف شهر سالم، پویا و بانشاط؛ در بعد فرهنگی، درباب لزوم احترام به اقوام؛ در بعد اقتصادی، مربوط به لزوم پرداخت عوارض شهری؛ و در بعد سیاسی، مرتبط با لزوم چگونگی انتخاب مقامات شهری است.تطابقیافته‌های حاصل از ابعاد آگاهی از مسئولیت‌ها، برحسب متغیرهای زمینه‌ای معنادار، بر پایین‌بودن سطح آگاهی جوانان و تفاوت معنادار آن با آگاهی والدین دلالت دارد. http://www.jss-isa.ir/article_31594_c20cbf08834c32e106350909a16de19e.pdf
